During much of the summer, areas north of the Arctic Circle receive 24 hours of daylight, a time to observe the changing colors on the rocks and mountaintops as the sun skims the horizon. It’s a rare privilege to be traveling in such a beautiful, remote place, and you’ll have a real sense of being alone at the top of the world.

Almost 100 islands make up the Shetland Islands, which sit on the northernmost part of the British Isles.   Lerwick is Shetland's only town and is a cosmopolitan seaport that offers warm hospitality to its visitors. The old waterfront is filled with pleasure boats, visiting yachts, and more. Travelers can experience everything from lively "theme" bars and clubs to a Town Hall that boasts breathtaking stained glassed glass windows, each with its own story.

Located on the island of Magerøya, Honningsvåg is the northernmost city in mainland Europe 

This rugged yet charming town features brightly painted wooden buildings with a surrounding landscape characterized by expansive stretches of tundra, breathtaking fjords, waterfalls, and dense forests. 

The tiny fishing town was completely rebuilt after World War II and is one of the best places to experience the “midnight sun,” a phenomenon where the sun doesn’t set in the summer and offers continuous light.

Mount Dalsnibba Summit Drive

• Drive past the villages, churches, and traditional farms of Geiranger on your way to the summit of Mount Dalsnibba.
• Soak up panoramic views of Geirangerfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Norwegian countryside.

The Geirangerfjord is without doubt the most beautiful of the Norwegian fjords. Impressive mountains, numerous waterfalls as well as farms clinging to the steep hillsides give the fjord its unique character. From the landing stage in the tiny village of Geiranger the drive goes uphill past the wooden, octagonal Geiranger Church, through the wild Flydal valley where a stop is made on top of an overhanging cliff.

 From the top of this gorge Flydalsjuvet one can enjoy the spectacular view of the village of Geiranger, the fjord and its surrounding mountains. The drive continues up numerous hairpin bends to Lake Djupvatn and follows the fascinating toll road to the summit of Mount Dalsnibba (1.500 meters.) From here there is an amazing panorama of mountains, waterfalls and lakes, and far below you can see the Geirangerfjord by clear weather.

Much of this picturesque town, located at the tip of the Nordfjord, looks as though it is straight out of the 17th century. Its many historic sites include Olden Old Church, built in 1759 on the site of the original stave church dating back to the 14th century, and the Singer Home, former residence of American painter William Singer. Nature lover? Explore the lush, verdant scenery of Lake Olden and experience its tranquility on a relaxing sightseeing cruise. Want something more adventurous? On your Europe cruise, trek through the Norwegian wild to Briksdal Glacier, an arm of the largest glacier in continental Europe. You'll hike along river paths and see gentle waterfalls created by the melting ice.

The Beauty of Nordfjord

• Board your motor coach and begin your immersion into the Nordic natural splendor, as you cruise along the northern banks of the Nordfjord, the fifth largest fjord in the country, and pass through the beautiful settlements of Blakset, Fjelli and Hopland on your way to the Nos viewpoint.

Briksdal Glacier with Troll cars 

Experience the untouched natural splendor of Norway, as you cruise along the Nordic countryside and come face to ice with one of the most visited and impressive glaciers in the country.

Highlights

• Begin your immersion into the magic of Norway, as you depart from the city of Olden and drive along the shores of beautiful lakes and pass through the colorful Nordic countryside on your way to Briksdal Inn.
• Leave behind your troll car and walk the final 1,600 or so feet to the viewpoint, where you can marvel at the Briksdal Glacier in all of its majesty, as the sun bathes the ice in incredible shades of blue and turquoise. Luck permitting, you might even hear the glacier calving, a thunderous sound that echoes through the area when chunks of the glacier break off and fall into the water.
• Once you are done soaking in this once-in-a-lifetime panorama, return to Briksdal Inn and enjoy a few refreshments, before browsing the extensive souvenir shop and heading back to your awaiting ship.
• Here, exchange your motor coach for a troll car, a diesel low-noise buggy, as you cross a river and ascend in zigzags to the top of the nearby falls until you reach the entrance to Jostedalsbreen National Park, one of the largest intact wilderness areas in southern Norway.

As a group, we will arrange a group dinner experience in one of the four main restaurants each evening at a designated time.  Each passenger in our group, is then free to decide whether you wish to dine with the group that evening, or make your own alternate dining arrangements.

Cosmopolitan Restaurant

We know our current main dining experience across our fleet is one of the reasons guests sail with us time and time again. To maintain the essence of that experience on Celebrity Apex^SM, we created the Cosmopolitan Restaurant—the next evolution of our current main restaurants. The walk-through wine display at the entrance sets the scene for the cuisine you’ll enjoy here—new American with global influences. Dear to our hearts, this restaurant represents our Greek heritage.
