Next, our cruise will visit Belfast, Northern Ireland,  site of historic battles between England and Ireland and also where you can see the original shipyard and the museum of the legendary Titanic

If you are a fan of the hit show GAME OF THRONES, in Belfast, you can take a shore excursion devoted to visiting locations featured in the Game of Thrones series.

In Scotland we will visit the bonnie lands of Edinburgh, where the legends of the hit TV show Outlander and the movie Braveheart are calling

And on our day in Portree Scotland, enjoy a visit to the Isle of Skye

where we will see rolling emerald-green hillsides.   From medieval castles and tumbling waterfalls to peaceful beaches and rugged rock formations that capture the imagination, the scenery is as enchanting as it is varied

You can spend the day exploring this outdoor wonderland or savor whiskey on the rocks during a distillery tour, go birding or visit a seal colony, or step into the past at a medieval castle.

Next we visit Inverness, in the beautiful Highlands of Scotland.

Teeming with bagpipe players and enthusiasts, Inverness also boasts a diverse music scene.  Gaelic was the native language until the turn of the 19th century.

Next, Situated on the River Tyne in northeast England, Newcastle

is a hub of history.   Enjoy a walking tour of Newcastle and trace the city’s history back to the Celtic Age.  Venture below ground into the historic Victoria Tunnel that was built for coal wagons between 1839 and 1842.

History, culture and architecture intertwine in Amsterdam among its narrow lanes and numerous canals.

Featuring more bridges than Venice, enjoying a canal tour is a great way to take in the many sights of Amsterdam (and get some great photo ops).

Art lovers won’t want to miss the Van Gough Museum and the Rijksmuseum while history buffs will want to make time for the Anne Frank House and the Amsterdam Museum.

Bruges Belgium offers more opportunities for scenic boat rides across lovely canals, as well as a visit to see & watch the making of and enjoy tasting Belgian chocolates, or a visit to the many sites of Brussels or Ghent Belgium.

Our last port is Le Havre, between beautiful Normandy and Paris France.

History buffs will wish to take an excursion to see the historic D Day beach landing sites, museum and cemetery to those who gave their lives in the D Day battles on these shores during WW II.  

Others will wish to take an excursion to visit the many charms of Paris, or the Gardens of Monet at Giverney, along with the historic sites from Heroine Joan of Arc in Rouen, France.

Finally, our cruise will end back where it started in the Southampton area, outside of London.

Alnwick Castle – A Harry Potter Connection

Bruges And Belgian Chocolates

Upon arrival in Bruges, a guided walk through the historical center introduces you to this beautiful, romantic city. During the walk, your guide will point out such major sights as the Market Square with its Guild houses, the Belfry Tower, and Burg Square. Burg Square is the focal point of ancient Bruges, flanked by many magnificent buildings. See the Town Hall, the former Recorder's House from the 1530's, and the Chapel of the Holy Blood.

 

Your walk then takes you to a Belgian chocolatier’s demonstration to see, firsthand, how raw chocolate bars are made into the fine Belgian chocolates using only the freshest and best ingredients. At the end, there is some time to purchase some if you wish and pay a brief independent visit to the Chocolate Museum. Bruges is full of lace and chocolate shops, and your free time will allow you to search for the perfect souvenir.

Ghent Odyssey: From Cathedrals To Canals

This dynamic modern city has a center straight out of the Middle Ages. After a one-hour drive on the highway passing the typical Flemish countryside, you arrive at Ghent. Your guided walking tour passes by St. Michael’s Bridge. On top of St. Michael’s Bridge you’ll have the most impressive view of the historical city center. From that point, you can see the Old Port with gabled-guild houses, the 1,000-year old Castle of the Counts and the famous 'row of the 3 towers'

A tour leader will assist you from the ship to the Grand Place of Brussels, where you’ll receive additional information about what to see and do. D-Day Landing Beaches Of Normandy

Head to Arromanches, a modest seaside resort that owes its fame to the Mulberry Operation, an integral part of the Allied Landing in Europe on June of 1944. Visit the Cinema circular movie Arromaches 360, which depicts the landing operations where you'll see the remains of this artificial port which enabled allied forces to land in France.

Drive to Port en Bessin for lunch before heading to Colleville Saint Laurent for a stop at the American Cemetery where more than 9,000 marble crosses stand aligned in an impressive site overlooking Omaha Beach. A memorial, inscribed with a map of the operations and preceded by a pool, stands in the central alley surrounded by trees. Drive to Pointe du Hoc, which was heavily fortified by the Germans to serve as an observation post. During D-Day, American troops climbed the cliffs with rope ladders.

Monet’s Giverny & Rouen

 

Giverny, located on the right bank of the Seine is a charming city known all over the world through the famous paintings of Claude Monet, who lived in the village from 1883 to his death in 1926

The flower garden replanted according to the original design of Claude Monet, is a spectacular display of colors. After the visit, you’ll have free time before your drive to a countryside restaurant for lunch.

Rouen is the capital of Higher Normandy with a skyline of towers and spires, and its heritage of fine buildings and many museums offers visitors a wealth of artistic delights. Follow your guide through the historical part of the city. See the Old Market Place where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake in 1431 and the modern Joan of Arc Church completed in 1979.
