To Nes Gard with a ferry
cruise in Nærøyfjord
Board the minibus after breakfast and begin our journey into
the fjords. After 2 hrs 30 mins scenic driving on the road, we reach the
village of Gudvangen, where we
hop on a ferry for a two-hour scenic cruise through the wild sheer cliffs of
Nærøyfjord with stunning photo opportunities throughout.
A two-hour scenic cruise through the
spectacular, UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord is an unforgettable journey.
Gliding
past sheer cliffs, towering 1,800-meter (5400 feet) peaks, and cascading
waterfalls.
Spectacular
waterfalls
A beautiful waterfall plunges down the steep mountainsides along
both the Nærøyfjord and the Aurlandsfjord.. The most spectacular of these
waterfalls is Sagfossen, at the outermost point of the Nærøyfjord, with a total
drop of 575 meters (close to 1800 feet). If you’re standing out on deck, you can feel
the droplets of water on your face when the boat carefully draws alongside the
waterfall.
The stunning blue-green fjords of Norway are surrounded by
majestic mountains, wild nature, cascading waterfalls, snow-clad peaks and
ancient glaciers.
The Nærøyfjord in Western Norway is a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its sheer,
dramatic mountains that plunge straight into the water, creating countless
cascading waterfalls
Nærøyfjord — a stunningly
beautiful UNESCO-listed fjord
Nærøyfjord is a sight to behold at any time of year. Whether you
see it in its winter blanket of frost and snow, with its emerald-colored
glacier melt water in spring or its green, flower-speckled hillsides in summer,
or in its brightly colored autumnal splendor.
Nærøyfjord is
a UNESCO World Heritage site. National Geographic magazine voted the fjord
"The best unspoiled travel destination in the world" already in 2004.
When choosing 50 most awe-inspiring natural wonders in 2017, CNN
said: “If you only have time to visit one fjord in your lifetime, make it the
Naeroyfjord in southwest Norway.”

Summit Molden peak, an
excellent viewpoint for Sognefjord
After a short transfer, embark on a picturesque walk to the
top of Molden (3,360ft/1,116m), where we can marvel at the profound chasm that
is Sognefjord, nicknamed the King of the Fjords.
Sognefjord — the king of the Norwegian fjords
Norway's longest fjord extends all the way to Jotunheimen
National Park, which boasts no fewer than 24 of Norway's 25 highest peaks.
The mighty Sognefjord has a jumble of fjord branches spreading
outwards into beautiful landscapes packed with wild nature and rich cultural
heritage
The Sognefjord is no less than 204 kilometers long. At its
deepest, the fjord extends 1300 meters down to the seabed, which also makes it
Norway’s deepest fjord. Majestic mountains towering over 1,700 meters (close to
6000 feet) surround the beautiful blue water of the Sognefjord.
Molden is often called the finest viewpoint in Sogn, with an
amazing fjord view. With 1,970ft (600m) of elevation gain over 2.6mi (4.2km),
the path is neither too steep nor strenuous.
Molden is widely celebrated as the finest
viewpoint in the Sogn region of Norway.
Rising
1,116 meters (3348 feet) above sea level, this iconic hike towers over the
emerald-colored Lustrafjord, offering breathtaking, 360-degree vistas of
majestic peaks, glaciers, and surrounding fjords.
Halfway, we stop at the mountain farm of Svarthiller, where
we get the first scenic views of the fjord. After, we visit Urnes Stave Church,
the oldest stave church in Norway and a World Heritage site.

Optional glacier walk

the massive glaciers
in Jostedal National Park
After breakfast, we have an approximately 40-minute transfer
to Jostedal National Park, the
home of Jostedal glacier, a mammoth ice cap covering vast swathes of the park
itself.
Jostedalsbreen National Park is a national park in Norway that encompasses the largest glacier on
the European mainland,
Welcome
to Jostedalsbreen National Park!
The Jostedalsbreen
glacier is the largest ice cap in mainland Europe’s and the largest white area
you will find on the map of Norway!
It
has nearly 30 glacial arms and today we visit two, starting with a walk to the
Nigards Glacier, where we get really close to the glacier.
If you’d like to get even closer, you can join an optional
guided walk on the glacier, using crampons and an ice axe to help you navigate.
In Jostedalsbreen National Park, you will see how the land
is formed day by day. The glacier scours the bedrock like a giant sandpaper,
constantly shaping the landscape and producing spectacular landforms.
Afterward, we will be driven to the Bergset Glacier, a
mighty ice wall covering the upper part of Krundalen valley. Here, we have a
short walk towards this glacier fall before we head back to Nes Gard.

wildflowers and traditional Norwegian summer cottages.
After, we return to Nes Gard for another evening to enjoy
our scenic location on the banks of the Lustrafjord.
On this hike you will get a great panorama of the Mørkrid-

Besshovden hike • Visit
the Norwegian Glacier Museum
Start the day with a one-hour transfer to the start point of
today’s hike. The route (which takes three to four hours) is one of the most
popular in the area and when we reach the top of Besshovden viewpoint, we see
why. From the summit, enjoy majestic views of the Fjærlandsfjorden and Jostedal
glacier.
During summer, you may even see people securing hammocks
here to spend the night under the stars.
Then we take a short transfer to the Norwegian Glacier
Museum in Fjærland, an angular slice of modern architecture back dropped by the
ancient mountain peaks. Here, we can spend 1 hour and 30 mins. enjoying a
fascinating insight into the local landscape, the glaciers and how the climate
crisis is impacting them.
After, enjoy free time in Fjærland, Norway’s book town,
where old cow sheds and pig pens have been converted into book shops.

depending on the weather.
