The drink remains a beloved staple throughout Vietnam, and you can discover why at La Terrasse.

Day   2  DEC. 16, 2026               HANOI

After our included breakfast at our hotel’s lavish restaurant, Discover some of Hanoi’s most famous historic and cultural sites on your guided tour that includes The Temple of Literature and Tran Quoc Pagoda, one of the oldest temples in Vietnam. You’ll also visit the infamous prison that American POWs sarcastically dubbed the “Hanoi Hilton” during the Vietnam War. Take an authentic rickshaw ride, known as “cyclo,” in Hanoi’s bustling Old Quarter, and then enjoy a traditional water puppet show. (B)

Later today, enjoy at your leisure, the many Christmas markets that are in Hanoi.

Christmas in Hanoi is a magical period for everyone in Vietnam’s capital city. As a place where many people from all over the world reside, Hanoi really comes to life on Christmas.

The last month of the year sees the capital city turn cool and dry with little to no rainfall. The average daytime high is around 74 F.  Hanoi weather at Christmas sets the stage for a delightful celebration throughout the day, perfect for outdoor activities, sightseeing, and enjoying the festive ambiance.

Hanoi already has a distinctive look thanks to the mix of skyscrapers and traditional buildings. Imagine the entire city illuminated with colorful lights, Christmas trees, and other decorations. These enchanting displays transform the city into a mesmerizing holiday wonderland.

Christmas markets are a newer phenomenon in Hanoi than in Europe, but the Vietnamese are more than making up for lost time. While the vibe is different (think lemon tea instead of mulled wine), the holiday cheer is just as vibrant as in Europe. The city is no stranger to markets and bazaars, so it’s no surprise that the vendors go all out for the festive season.

With flower festivals, sparkling decorations, and colorful lights galore, Christmas in Hanoi is a magical experience for everyone. The cozy Old Quarter, lively West Lake, and family-friendly Hoàn Kiếm all have treats to discover. The city bubbles with musical events and Christmas markets, bringing everyone under its joyful spell. There’s no shortage of things to do in Hanoi at Christmas time, from indulging in traditional foods and visiting the bustling Cathedral Square

The best place to experience Christmas markets and festivities in Hanoi is Hang Ma Street in the Old Quarter. It transforms into a vibrant hub of Christmas decorations, lights, and ornaments during the holiday season. You can also find markets at other locations like Cua Bac Church, which hosts a German Christmas market with handicrafts and music.

Day 3             DEC. 17, 2026            HANOI - HA LONG BAY

After our included breakfast at the Sofitel, we will be driven  to stunning Halong Bay, where we will board our local sailing boat for our 2 day/1 night cruise of exquisite scenery along Halong Bay.

.

2011 Ha Long Bay was elected as one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature.

Ha Long Bay, also known as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is famous for its stunning limestone mountain islands that rise up from emerald waters, formed thousands of years ago. Visitors can explore the amazing caves and experience the culture of Ha Long.

We will be transferred to board an elegantly appointed ship designed with all the modern conveniences to ensure smooth sailing for an incredible once-in-a-lifetime 2 day/1 night experience.

The backdrop of the bay’s magnificent scenery and dramatic limestone cliffs and rock formations provide you with the perfect setting for a memorable sojourn. (B,L,D)

Massive rock formations jut out of the dreamy blue water like sleeping goliaths in Ha Long Bay and its quieter neighbor, Bai Tu Long Bay. Atop the backs of those striking karst formations and limestone islands are lush layers of silky greenery.

The result looks at once like it was ripped from the prehistoric age and straight from a sci-fi epic (think Jurassic World crossed with Avatar). Floating fishing village communities ring the Titanic bays, making the areas feel warm and communal despite their isolated natural setting.

The natural wonders of the bays don’t stop there, either. Float closer to the individual stone outcroppings; you’ll find they almost all hold hidden gems. Some look like solid rocks but are home to massive caves, such as Trinh Nu Cave or Sung Sot Cave, among the most famous. Others are world-class rock climbing destinations where particularly adventurous souls climb without ropes and fall into the Bay below if their grip fails. Many of them are gorgeous limestone islands with some of the most pristine beaches in Vietnam ringing the stone.

Since Ha Long Bay features thousands of outcroppings, there’s no end to exploration there.

In short, Ha Long Bay is an utterly transfixing sight that is more than worthy of its title as one of the New Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Visiting Ha Long Bay (or any of the Natural Wonders of the World, for that matter) is an opportunity most people will only ever dream of, so you owe it to yourself and whoever you’re traveling with to snatch up the chance

Day 5         DEC. 19, 2026      SIEM REAP – ANGKOR

Begin your morning exploration of the Angkor temple complex at Angkor Thom, meaning “the great city." This is home to Bayon Temple, best known for its gigantic smiling stone faces, as well as the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King. You’ll then visit nearby Ta Prohm, known as the “Kingdom of Trees,” for the way in which the temple stones have become intertwined with thick forest vegetation over the centuries. Afternoon excursions take you to the fascinating jewel in the crown of Angkorian art, Banteay Srei, meaning “Citadel of Women,” as it has been said that the carving is too fine to have been done by the hand of man. Cap this memorable day off with a special “Apsara Dance Show” at your hotel, featuring local Cambodian/Khmer folk dancers. (B,D)

Angkor Thom, meaning "Great City," was the last and most enduring capital of the Khmer Empire, located in present-day Cambodia. It was established by King Jayavarman VII in the late 12th century and is known for its impressive walls, gates, and temples. The city is a rectangular area enclosed by a laterite wall and a moat, covering approximately nine square kilometers.

Key Features of Angkor Thom:

·

Walls and Gates:

Angkor Thom is surrounded by a laterite wall and a moat, with five gates (one on each side except for the east which has two).

Causeways and Bridges:

The causeways leading to the gates are lined with stone statues of gods and demons holding nagas (mythical serpents).

Bayon Temple:

Located at the center of Angkor Thom, Bayon is famous for its numerous towers adorned with the serene faces of Avalokiteśvara, often interpreted as King Jayavarman VII.

Day 6             DEC. 20, 2026            SIEM REAP – ANGKOR WAT

Today our included tour takes us to Discover the heart and soul of Cambodia and the most iconic of all Angkorian Temples, Angkor Wat.

Angkor Wat,  is now considered the eighth Wonder of the World, beating Italy's Pompeii. The title of the eighth Wonder of the World is given to outstanding buildings or projects, and Angkor Wat has gained this recognition.

It's a massive religious monument and UNESCO World Heritage Site, covering about 500 acres.

Angkor Wat's central part is known for its balanced design and large moat. The carvings on its walls are like an ancient picture book, showing scenes from Hindu stories, historical events, and daily life in the Khmer region. The careful details show the skill of the artisans who worked on this massive project.

This is one of the largest religious monuments ever constructed and a true masterpiece of Khmer architecture built by King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century to honor the Hindu god, Vishnu. (B)

Here's a more detailed look at the reasons for its fame:

Architectural Marvel:

·        Scale and Design:

Angkor Wat is a vast complex, covering over 400 acres, and its five sandstone towers are designed to resemble the peaks of Mount Meru, the center of the Hindu universe,

·        Intricate Carvings:

The temple's walls are adorned with thousands of bas-reliefs depicting scenes from Hindu mythology, religious figures, and daily life

·        Symbolism:

Angkor Wat is not just a temple; it's a representation of the cosmos and a testament to the architectural and engineering skills of the Khmer Empire.
