Join us for a seven day sailing on the Star Clipper of Clipper Cruise Line, sailing the gorgeous French and Italian Rivieras, plus the beautiful French island of Corsica, off the coast of the .French Riviera.

Star Clipper and Star Flyer are modern cruise ships in every way, created for luxury-loving passengers who also love the traditions and romance of the legendary era of sailing ships. Star Clipper and Star Flyer are both 350 feet long and each carries just 166 guests in pampered comfort. Life aboard is blissfully relaxed, much like travelling on a private yacht. You’ll never feel confined on Star Clipper and Star Flyer.

Both identical ships offer spacious accommodations and expansive teak decks with ample space and not one, but two swimming pools. In fact, you’ll find that these ships offer more outdoor space per passenger than most conventional cruise ships.

The decor of Star Clipper and Star Flyer is reminiscent of the grand age of sail. Antique prints and paintings of famous sailing ships please your eye, while teak and gleaming mahogany rails are richly remindful of Star Clippers’ proud nautical heritage.

All Star Clippers’ ships feature open-seating dining in an elegantly appointed dining room, our convivial indoor-outdoor Tropical Bar and Piano Bar, and an Edwardian style library where a Belle Époque fireplace glows with a warmth that reflects the friendliness and enthusiasm of Star Clippers’ hospitable officers
and crew.

The Sun Deck has 2 pools and ample sun loungers to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine

The Main deck has both a tropical bar and a lively piano bar. The Clipper deck has shopping, guest services and the main dining room, along with passenger cabins located on this deck.  The Commodore deck has more passenger cabins.

This sailing cruise is the most authentic way to see and truly feel the vibrant ambience of the French and Italian Rivieras in style.

Our sailing will visit the posh port of Portofino, on the stunning Italian Riviera.  Our sailing then goes to the island of Corsica, where Napoleon was born, just off the coast of the French Riviera.   We will visit three ports along this fabulous French island, each unique in their own way.  Then we will visit two stunning spots along the French Riviera, La Lavendou and the always scintillating St. Tropez.

In each port we will enjoy the choice of either an optional private group island tour or coastal tour or simply go to the incredible beaches each of our ports have in abundance, to enjoy the summer sand, sea and sun.

AND THAT IS NOT ALL !

BEFORE OUR CRUISE WE WILL ENJOY THREE DAYS AND NIGHTS ALONG THE FABULOUS FRENCH RIVIERA VISITING THE TOWNS OF NICE AND EZE, PLUS A VISIT TO WITNESS THE CHANGING OF THE GUARD AT THE PALACE OF MONACO, AN OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT THE OPPULANCE OF THE CASINO IN MONTE CARLO (AND TRY YOUR LUCK IF YOU WISH).

OUR PRE CRUISE WILL ALSO INCLUDE A TOUR VISITING THE BEAUTIFUL LAVENDER AND SUNFLOWER FIELDS IN THE VILLAGE OF VALENSOLE ALONG WITH THE STUNNING VERDON GORGE IN THE BEAUTIFUL REGION OF PROVENCE.

AND ANOTHER EXCITING HIGHLIGHT OF OUR PRE CRUISE WILL BE ATTENDING BOTH THE PARADE IN NICE AND then that night, enjoy THE LAVISH FIREWORKS DISPLAY IN CANNES, TO CELEBRATE BASTILLE DAY (FRENCH INDEPENDENCE DAY)

Detailed cruise itinerary

 SATURDAY JULY 16,2022    CANNES, FRANCE

Glittering Cannes is the archetypal Mediterranean resort city discovered by wealthy English nobles who came to the sunny south of France to escape their drafty old castles during the dreary British winters. Cannes’ high flying lifestyle has attracted notables and the notorious ever since. Every year, the stars flock to celebrate the Cannes Film Festival at the colossal Palais des Festivals.

SUNDAY JULY 17, 2022    PORTOFINO, ITALY – Enjoy the beautiful Italian Riviera

https://www.starclippers.com/files/vpt/ports-of-call/poc-portofino.jpg
The colorful buildings of Portofino, along the beautiful Italian Riviera

Portofino is a fishing village on the Italian Riveria coastline. It's pastel-colored houses, luxury boutiques and seafood restaurants surround its Piazzetta, a small cobbled square overlooking the harbor, which is lined with super-yachts. A short walk takes you up to the Church of St. George, a church with a cool, plain interior, dramatically situated on the narrow neck of the Portofino headland. As a lookout point, and probably as a site of religious significance, the spot goes back thousands of years.

A small village, Portofino, stretches crescent-shaped along the edge of this calm bay.” Thus wrote Guy de Maupassant when describing Portofino, tiny sea village on the Italian Riviera circumscribed by the green of the Natural Regional Park and Marine Reserve

This splendid sea resort with its lux, Mediterranean personality, also boasts an ancient marine culture, and of course is another one of those spots beloved by artists, famous personages and writers that have long sung its praises.

The “Piazzetta,” meeting-up point for the international jet-set, is the symbol of Portofino, while the port, with its characteristic, brightly-colored houses.  Nearby, the Brown Castle (Castello Brown) is a fortress smack-dab in the middle of a hanging-garden. Also nearby is the Cinque Terre, with its five villages nestled along the hillside and cliffs hugging the coast-line.

 MONDAY JULY 18, 2022    L'ILE ROUSSE - CORSICA, FRANCE

Crowded with yachts flying burgees hailing from the world's most prestigious yacht clubs, the harbor of St. Florent is a regatta of colors. Take an excursion to the peninsula of Cap Corse, where medieval watchtowers dot the cliff tops every few miles.
The center of the town is at Place Paoli. This square is open to the sea to the west, and also has a pleasant covered market.
Offering shade under the plane trees, it is a good place from which to venture into both the old and new towns.
It is the old town, with its paved streets and old houses that will be of most interest to the visitor, with a bustling atmosphere in the summer and lots of small shops and cafes. These narrow streets are pretty and pleasant to explore.
There are two churches in the center of the town. The Church of the Immaculate Conception, although built in the 19th-20th centuries, contains two notable 17th century paintings.

The covered market in the center, built in the style of an ancient temple on large columns, was in fact built in the middle of the 19th century.

TUESDAY JULY 19, 2022    CALVI - CORSICA, FRANCE

Napoleon once said that he could recognize his native island blindfolded because of the wonderful perfume of the maquis. Approaching by sea, it is the first thing you experience about Corsica. The second is its wild and mountainous landscape. Nearby are secluded beaches and the eerie Grottes des Veaux Marins, offering fantastic diving opportunities.

About Calvi

With more than 600 miles of coastline, Corsica has beaches to rival the Côte d'Azur (the French Riviera).  Calvi, in northwest Corsica, blends French style with Italian sunshine. Bask in the sun on a pure white beach that stretches the length of the bay, or explore the medieval Citadel with its unparalleled views and peaceful pedestrian streets.

The many boats & beautiful landscapes of Calvi, on the island of Corsica

You will immediately see the full effect of the attractive port, the towering Citadel, the rugged mountains, and the forest of pines.

For many visitors it is Calvi’s beach that is the big attraction and center of a visit. The beach is a long, narrow strip of white sand and serene, shallow water that stretches nearly 6 km (4 mi) along the length of the bay.

The beach also has lifeguards and very good facilities, such as picnic areas and snack bars. Popular activities include windsurfing, waterskiing, jet skiing and paragliding.

The Genoese Citadel is the main part of the town, and its most important historical monument. It was a military outpost in the 15th century that helped guard the city against international attacks. The citadel sits high above Calvi port from where it towers over the sea. From up here you get some great views of the coast and harbor.

Within the citadel old town there are many tunnels and long winding stairways as well as plenty of narrow walkways tucked between quaint old houses.

Places of interest in the Citadel include the restored palace of the Genovese governor, and the remains of a house that is rumored to be the place where Christopher Columbus was born*. Wandering around the cobblestone streets and shops in the Citadel is a lovely way to spend an afternoon or quiet evening.

WEDNESDAY JULY20, 2022    PLAGE SAINT ANTOINE - CORSICA, FRANCE

This beautiful wild beach is not easily accessible from the road which is what makes it so special. It’s surrounded by breath-taking scenery and crystal clear waters. The beach is located in a natural place with very picturesque views, among the mountains, surrounded by the cliffs.

It is a spacious several bays coastline with crystal turquoise water and golden sand, so you don't need special shoes.

THURSDAY JULY 21, 2022    LE LAVANDOU, FRANCE

https://www.starclippers.com/files/vpt/ports-of-call/poc-le-lavandou.jpg

Le Lavandou is a popular seaside resort town, as well as it's own beach there are a series of other beaches each with its own unique charm that are close by and can be reached via a walking path that runs along-side them. It's also an active yacht marina, with a section reserved for the fishing boats that supply the fish market that is still held here every morning.

Le Lavandou is located between Toulon and Saint-Tropez in the south of the Côte d'Azur Var. Also called the city of the dolphins and whales, Le Lavandou is located on the shores of the Mediterranean, facing the Iles du Levant and Port-Cros and stretches over 12 km of coastline with 12 beautiful beaches of fine sand, grain size and different colors.

The authentic fishing village has a mild and temperate climate, with hot, dry summers. Nestled at the foot of the Maures mountains, lush Mediterranean vegetation found there in a protected environment.

Every Thursday there is a local market with vendors from across the region.  There are also many scenic walking paths and a total of 14 scenic fountains.  Diving is also a popular pastime here.

FRIDAY JULY 22, 2022    ST. TROPEZ , FRANCE

It is said that the most spectacular way to approach the exquisite harbor of St. Tropez is by sea. St. Tropez is a people-watcher's paradise, so you will also want to explore her famous beaches, bistros and bars. The appropriately named Tahiti Plage is where topless sun tanning started, and whether you prefer to take it off or take it all in, there's always plenty to see in St. Tropez.

About Saint-Tropez

Brigitte Bardot frolicked on the beaches of St. Tropez in the '50s; now it's the playground of celebrities and international socialites.  Most of the sandy hot spots lie southwest of town on the Baie de Pampelonne. But if you're not an A-list celebrity, take heart: you'll find family-friendly, public beaches where the sun, sand and waves are just as fabulous.

Every summer, images of movie stars, oligarchs and models enjoying champagne on yachts and dancing in nightclubs adorn the pages of celebrity magazines, all with the same caption "spotted in Saint-Tropez”. It is easy to see the attraction of this once tiny fishing village with its beautiful beaches, luxury yachts, exclusive boutiques, cafes and bars offering the millionaire lifestyle with a twist of French Riviera chic.

However, Saint-Tropez has managed to retain a quiet charm in its narrow streets, traditional restaurants shaded by grapevines and the pretty harbor lined with wooden masts. Spectacular white sand beaches line the Gulf de Saint-Tropez while the Provencal countryside rises up behind the town with medieval villages, vineyards and lavender fields sweeping over the rolling hills.

Saint-Tropez combines this old-fashioned charm with its status as the preferred destination for the rich and famous. A pretty Provencal village with an immaculate maze of cobbled lanes filled with boutiques and lovely cottages with painted shutters, Saint-Tropez is also well-known for its designer boutiques, glitzy art galleries and world-renowned beaches.

History buffs will enjoy the local museums such as the 17th-century La Citadel, which boasts beautiful views over the sea, the House of Butterflies and the Annonciade Museum, one of the longest-established modern art galleries in France. The famous yellow and red church tower featured in all the photographs of Saint-Tropez is Notre Dame de l'Assomption, a Baroque-style church. The surrounding area has plenty to explore too, with vineyards, gardens and hilltop villages with ruined castles.
