Live it up in Europe aboard Norwegian Viva — our newest and most innovative ship ever.  See the treasure of Spain’s most vibrant city’s including Barcelona’s diverse architecture during a drive through the city on your way to Montserrat — a picturesque village perched atop rugged mountains where you can visit the Black Virgin statue in the local basilica.

Visit the charms of Seville, Spain’s most walkable city of awe inspiring sites. We will also visit Ibiza and Mallorca, two of Spain’s most lively and fun sun drenched islands. 

And there is the often overlooked Spanish port town of Motril, with its own charms and sites to discover.

Then in Gibraltar, take the cable car to the top of the famous Rock of Gibraltar for panoramic views of two continents, as, as well as a visit to see and interact with if you wish, the unique Barbary Apes.

Nestled on the west coast of Tuscany, charming Livorno offers sightseeing of timeless treasures in Florence and the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
Also visit Marseilles, in the beautiful Provence region of France and visit the town of Villefranche on the French Riviera, with the opportunity there to visit Monaco to see the palace where Princess Grace once lived and the famed Monte Carlo casino.

Our Cruise starts in Rome with its timeless treasures and ends in Lisbon, the beautiful capital city of Portugal.

Tuesday  September 10th

EMBARK THE CRUISE IN ROME.         SHIP DEPARTS AT 5PM

Arrive in Rome on your own flight arrangement.  NCL offers its own airport to ship transfer bus service which can be purchased at any time until 30 days prior to the cruise.

 

Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy

Endless adventures await in Rome. With two and a half thousand years of history, art and culture, it is no wonder Rome is one of the most visited cities on the planet. Gaze at the masterpieces of the Vatican or walk into the past with visits to ancient relics, historic monuments and legendary museums.  Or people-watch while sipping on an espresso in a quaint cafe.

This evening we will have a welcome aboard meet and greet group get together aboard the brand new Norwegian Viva!

Florence/Pisa (Livorno), Italy                           6am-7pm

How lucky to visit the Tuscan region, Florence & Pisa, resplendent in art and history. What's even more fortunate is that all the main attractions in Florence are centrally located for the perfect walking tour. See Santa Croce, Piazza del Duomo and Michelangelo's David. Or if you wish, see the Leaning Tower of Pisa, or take an excursion to see both Florence and Pisa.

Thursday Sept. 12, 2024

Nice/Monaco (Villefranche), France                               7am-6pm

A cruise to Nice/Monaco (Villefranche) offers the chance to experience an enchanting example of the French Riviera’s allure that’s nestled a mere 6km east of Nice. Stroll along the Old Harbor for majestic views of the Mediterranean. Saint Michael’s Church houses many incredible artworks and an 18th-century organ constructed by the Grinda Brothers. Relax on one of the local beaches or trek up to the Fort Du Mont Alban, a 16th-century structure overlooking the city. For some subterranean scenery, head to the Rue Obscure under the city or the prehistoric archeological site at Grotte du Lazaret.

Provence (Marseille), France                           6am-6pm

Located on the Mediterranean coast, Marseille is the oldest city in France and was founded in 600 BC. Among the many terracotta-roofed buildings lies many intriguing sights including the Cathedral of Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde. Other places well worth visiting are the city of Avignon and the quaint villages of Le Baux & Aix en Provence.

Barcelona, Spain                    7am-7pm

The capital of Catalonia, and one of its provinces, Barcelona, is a place of palpable history, where you can lose yourself in delight simply strolling down the medieval streets of the Barri Gotic, or the Las Ramblas with its charming street mimes and shops. It's a city designed to delight the senses: visit other-worldly Modernista churches like Gaudi's La Sagrada Familia, or treat yourself to a snack on Spanish tapas at a street side cafe to Patatas Bravas or a Passion Fruit Mojito, or visit the site of the 1992 Summer Olympic Opening Ceremony and its adjacent Olympic Museum to learn and admire the history of Olympic competition

Sunday  Sept. 15th

Palma, Majorca Island, Spain                 7am-5pm

On the one hand, this city, founded by the Romans some 2,100 years ago, is replete with (literally) wall-to-wall history and architectural splendor. You can journey back in time and wander the mazes of alleyways and cobblestone paths that surround the Gothic cathedral. On the other hand, Palma is bustling with life, showcasing the island's best restaurants, shops, nightlife and a vibrant art scene.

Monday  Sept. 16th 

Ibiza ISLAND, Spain                   7am-3pm

With its youthful spirit and natural beauty, the Balearic island of Ibiza (or "Eivissa," as its known locally) is perfect for those who love the outdoors. The beach coastline is majestically rugged, and the hills are covered with olive and fig trees. Two of the most popular beaches are Talamanca and Ses Figueretes. The capital of Ciudad de Ibiza offers a variety of experiences to discover, especially in the historic Dalt Vila district. From the 16th century Castle of Ibiza to the Museum of Contemporary Art and scenic strolls along beautiful cobblestone streets, there’s something for everyone.

Tuesday  Sept. 17th, 2024

Motril, Spain                    10am-9pm

Motril is a magnificent Spanish gem on the Mediterranean coast of mainland Spain. The relaxing sands of Playa de Torrenueva are a great place to spend a sunny day. For some inland exploring, head to the Cueva Del Capitan for a fantastic nature hike. There’s also plenty of history waiting to be experienced in the city. Stop by the Santuario de Nuestra Señora de la Cabeza to see a 17th-century church surrounded by incredible panoramic views. Then head to the Pre-industrial Sugar Cane Museum to learn all about the region’s staple crop.

Seville (Cádiz), Spain                      8am-9pm

 

Indulge in the culture of Andalusia's capital of Seville on the west coast of Spain,  and visit its stunning Cathedral, one of the largest in the world. Stop and taste the tapas and smell the orange blossoms during a stroll down the winding Medieval lanes. But be sure you leave time to visit the breathtaking Plaza de Espana.

Thursday  Sept. 19th 2024

Gibraltar, United Kingdom                6am-12 noon

Just to the south of the mainland of Spain lies the British colony of Gibraltar.  Go to Gibraltar to discover just how impressive a huge rock can be. Take the cable car to the top and from the top of the Rock (over 400 meters up), you can admire the view across the Mediterranean and up the peninsula into Spain.  If you wish, explore St. Michael’s Cave, a fascinating cavern once lived in by Neolithic peoples and visited by early Romans. Browse through shops filled with embroidered linens from Madeira or go see to the famed Barbary Apes. Then head to a local pub to grab some traditional fish and chips. If you really want to do as the locals do, order a beer (or two) with your meal.
