From Black River Gorges Waterfall, snap photos of views over western Mauritius.

Stop for a rum tasting at the Rhumerie de Chamarel, a distillery that makes Mauritius' native rum, then continue to the nearby Chamarel Waterfall and the 7 Colored Earth, one of the islands most famous sights

The Seven Colored Earth is a relatively small area of sand dunes comprising sand of seven distinct colors (approximately red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow). The main feature of the place is that since these differently colored sands spontaneously settle in different layers, dunes acquire a surrealistic, striped coloring. Since the earth was first exposed, rains have carved beautiful patterns into the hillside, creating an effect of earthen meringue

These people were known as Cape Malays and were brought from Malaysia, Indonesia and the rest of Africa to work in the Cape. The choice of color is said to be attributed to the fact that while on the lease, all the houses had to be white. When this rule was eventually lifted, and the slaves were allowed to buy the properties, all the houses were painted bright colors by their owners as an expression of their freedom....

In 1964, an anti-apartheid revolutionary named Nelson Mandela was arrested and brought to South Africa’s Robben Island, just west of Cape Town. He would spend the next 18 years imprisoned in an 8x7-foot cell, forced to do hard labor, and permitted only one visitor a year. Even so, Mandela went on to become his country’s first black president, a Nobel Peace Prize recipient, and known globally for his significant contributions to human rights and social justice.

Robben Island—where most of Mandela’s 27-year prison sentence was served—was a place of isolation for nearly 300 years, housing many political prisoners and serving as both a lunatic asylum and leper colony. Today, the island remains a tangible symbol of political freedom and a reminder of the difficult road to South African democracy. Read on to learn more about how to visit this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

. Upon arrival on Robben Island, general tours start aboard a bus. Oftentimes, island tour guides are former political prisoners who can share information about South Africa’s history, as well as their own firsthand experiences. Once on the island, you’ll be able to see human rights activist and former prisoner Robert Sobukwe’s house; a 17th-century limestone quarry where Mandela and others were put to work; a leper colony cemetery; and the Robben Island Museum, dedicated to preserving the memory and contributions of the freedom fighters once held within its walls. Some tours also include access to Mandela’s cell.

Early this afternoon we will be taken to our cruise ship for boarding.

Cabin with ocean view and balcony
Add $1330 per person to the ocean view price, (only $63 per person per day to upgrade from the ocean view to the balcony cabin) making the total $5899 per person including all taxes.  We only have a very limited number of these beautiful balcony cabins so if you wish one, please book early for availability. (You can also travel with your own roommate if you wish)

All prices include dining at 6 traditional dining locales on the ship. We will have group dinners at the main dining room each night.
ALL PASSENGERS ALSO GET THEIR CHOICE OF TWO OF THE FOLLOWING PERKS (choose any two of the following three perks)

  • Choice #1 - FIVE VISITS TO THE SPECIALTY DINING RESTAURANTS ON THE SHIP FOR ONLY $5 PER VISIT.  We encourage all passengers to choose this perk, as all passengers doing so will enjoy dinner together these five nights with reservations made by your trip host for all passengers in the group who choose this perk.  The specialty dining restaurants are Brazilian, French, Italian Japanese Teppanyaki (Japanese cooked at the table in front of your eyes) and a fabulous Steak/Seafood restaurant.
  • Choice #2 - Unlimited drinks of $15 per drink for $395 per person (including alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, beer, wine, cocktails sodas, etc.  So with this perk, you can have as many of any combination of any alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks as you wish over the course of the cruise for a total of $395 per person.  Each person choosing this perk even can order two drinks at a time and both drinks would still be included.   Note: if your drink ordered costs more than $15, you will only pay the difference in cost, so if you order a drink which is $17, the first $15 is included and you would pay $2.  The only drinks which cost more than $15 are those ordered specifically using specialty liquor brands rather than house liquor brands.) Note- If travelling with your own roommate rather than a roommate assigned by us, both of you must choose the same two perks, as the cruise line requires both people in the same cabin to have chosen the same two perks)
  • Choice #3 - 250 free Wi-Fi minutes per cabin
  • Single occupancy rates:  If you do not wish us to assign you a roommate and you are not traveling with a friend, but rather you wish the privacy of your own room for the 21 night cruise:
  • On an Inside cabin: Add an additional $2979 to the Inside price of $3999 including tax.
  • On an Ocean view cabin; Add an additional $3549 to the ocean view price of $4575
