Athens/Piraeus, Greece

9:00 PM

Piraeus is Greece's largest port and has been a gateway to the Mediterranean since 482 BC. It lies on the innermost point of the Saronic Gulf and is a short drive from Athens, the cradle of Western democracy and culture. Throughout the ages, Athens' lofty Acropolis has been a source of inspiration. The ancient ruins scattered throughout this legendary city are reminders of Greece's great cultural heritage.

If you are joining us on the back to back sailings, then today is a second full day to enjoy this timeless, historic city.  Don’t forget, on all of our cruises, we offer optional group excursions in each port, so you never need to explore alone.

Paphos, Cyprus

7:00 AM

5:00 PM

Steeped in mythological history, Paphos offers an abundance of architectural wonders. In fact, the entire city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Some of the treasures not to be missed are the spectacular mosaics unearthed in the House of Dionysus, charming Omodos Village and the solid rock catacombs of the Tombs of the Kings. Paphos is perhaps best known as the birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love. Her spirit lives on in the ancient ruins and temples, as well as the modern harbor and sun-splashed beaches where love is always in the air. Once you have discovered the sites beyond Paphos, you will find the palm-lined waterfront promenade most inviting for a stroll.  The island of Cyprus is actually an island nation unto itself and is truly a gem to explore and discover.

Rhodes/Lindos, Greece

8:00 AM

6:00 PM

Best known of the Dodecanese islands, Rhodes is rich with natural beauty, architectural variety and colorful history. The city of Rhodes is architecturally one of the most varied in Europe. Hellenistic, Byzantine, Medieval and Turkish architectural styles freely intermingle. Sunshine and dry air combine to cast such a magnificent light over the island that the ancients dedicated Rhodes to Apollo, the God of Light.

Souda Bay, Crete, Greece

   8:00 AM

                                             6:00 PM

Souda Bay

Souda Bay is a bay and natural harbour near the town of Souda on the northwest coast of the Greek island of Crete. The bay is about 15 km long and only two to four km wide, and a deep natural harbour. It is formed between the Akrotiri peninsula and Cape Drapano, and runs west to east. The bay is overlooked on both sides by hills, with a relatively low and narrow isthmus in the west near Chania.

There are three impressive ancient fortresses  here,  as well as an allied War Cemetery which are all worth visiting.

The Leeward beaches are also a beautiful place to relax here.

May 02, Thursday

Santorini Greece

                    7:00AM            10:00pm

Of all the Cyclades Islands, Santorini is often considered the most dramatic. Once an active volcano, it was known as Stongyle, or the Round Island. In about 1500 BC, the volcano erupted with such force that the center of the island literally exploded, leaving the haunting submerged crater into which Crystal sails. The island's small villages were preserved in the ashes and recent excavations have uncovered a fascinating view of everyday life from 3,500 years ago.   Santorini's dark landscape offsets its simple, yet refined Cycladic buildings, which glimmer in the sunlight. The rich volcanic soil is ideal for grapes and the local vines produce a cherished crop known for its "special volcanic taste."  Thíra, or Fira Town, is laid out along the edge of a cliff that partially forms the rim of the now extinct caldera. A picturesque site, it exudes charm and an atmosphere of leisure that can be attributed to the easy-going Greek lifestyle.

Our ship does not sail away until 10pm, thus enabling all to watch the sunset from one of the cafes in either the cliff-side villages of Fira or Oia overlooking the sea and the volcanic crater for breathtaking sunset views!
