Monte Carlo

An ancient principality steeped in rich and colorful history, Monaco was bought from the Genoese in 1309 by the Grimaldis, who still rule as the world's oldest monarchy - presided over today by Prince Albert.  See the famous casino of Monte Carlo, which is stunning both outside and inside, especially after sundown when the casino and its surroundings are all aglow in lights.

Enjoy an optional full day group excursion to see sites including the changing of the guard at the royal palace and the stunning sites along the nearby French Riviera.

Le Lavandou

The stunning lavender fields of Le Lavendou in the Provence region of France

In the heart of the French Riviera, this charming, seaside resort town (named for Provençal lavender fields which bloom from June-August) is becoming increasingly popular but is still unspoiled. Dotted with wild inlets of pine, mimosa, eucalyptus and palm, the long, sandy coast and crystal-clear waters have earned its beaches Blue Flag designation, while high on the hill, its historic village center overflows with plants and flowers. Nearby, the Domaine du Rayol, aka The Mediterranean Gardens are not to be missed.

When you walk the streets of this quaint village you feel like you are in a romantic French movie, with its small yellow houses, sycamore trees and sparkling blue sea

Enjoy a full day group excursion taking you to see the beautiful lavender fields, which are at their best in June, along with stunning coastal scenery and other sites along the fabulous French Riviera.

Barcelona’s seaside beauty, plus the amazing Sagrada Familia Cathedral, the eclectic Las Ramblas with its quirky mimes and tantalizing tapas cafes, the city’s sprawling beaches, eclectic architecture, and did we mention the world-class tapas and amazing buildings throughout the city are all reasons to fall in love with the city of Gaudí. Indeed, the treasures here are many and diverse, captivating travelers and experts alike. In fact, nine important sites in the city, seven designed by the famed architect himself, have earned the acclaim of UNESCO.

Enjoy two days and an overnight cruise visit here, with an optional full day group excursion the first day and an optional half day group excursion the second day.

Ajaccio, Corsica

Home to the Maison Bonaparte, the residence-turned-museum bearing the general’s name, this once fortified town founded by the Genoese in 1492 today boasts a Côte d’Azur flair along its trendy waterfront promenade. Nestled between sea and mountains, its magnificent UNESCO-designated Golfe de Porto is part of Corsica’s Regional National Park, renowned for its geologic and ecologic natural value
Enjoy an optional group excursion to visit these fantastic sites.

Florence/Pisa (Livorno)

Description: The Leaning Tower of Pisa SB.jpeg
The famous Leaning Tower of Pisa

Giotto, Brunelleschi, Botticelli and Michelangelo made their marks of genius here. This cradle of the Renaissance owes its UNESCO status to the overwhelming influence the city and its museums, churches, architecture and artworks have had on Europe and, ultimately, the world. Vestiges of this enlightened period are everywhere today – at the Uffizi gallery, the Palazzos Pitta and Vecchio and throughout the city streets.

Enjoy several great options for excursions here as there are so many nearby towns which are stunning to visit.  For the first timer, Crystal’s shore excursion to see Florence and the Leaning Tower of Pisa is a must do.
For the return visitor, take our optional group excursion to see the stunning hillside village of San Gimignano, a beautiful village of Tuscany, which is circled by 13th century walls and features an old town square that feels like you are in a movie, hundreds of years ago, with its multiple towers built centuries ago, a triangular town square and marvelous medieval looking houses.

Our cruise ends in the port of Civitavecchia, approx. 75 minutes outside of Rome.  If you have never been to Rome, it is a must visit for a post cruise stay, which we can organize for anyone for as many days as desired.  The Eternal City of Rome has more than 2,500 years of history and ancient landmarks that will leave you with memories for a lifetime, including the timeless Coliseum, the Trevi Fountain and much more.

If you have been to Rome, but wish to extend your stay instead to see a place most have never been to (and many have never even heard of), join your trip leader in taking the scenic train for a three hour journey north to the independent nation of San Marino.
San Marino is entirely contained within the borders of Italy, making it one of only three independent nations in the world which can say that about their geography.

Among the world’s oldest republics, San Marino retains much of its historic architecture. On the slopes of Monte Titano sits the capital, also called San Marino, known for its medieval walled old town and narrow cobblestone streets. The Three Towers, castle-like citadels dating to the 11th century, sit atop Titano’s neighboring peaks.
