Perfection.

Join us for another incredible SCAT cruise experience, as we sail aboard the Crystal Symphony from London for a late summer - Labor Day week - “fun in the sun” cruise.

We have once again set up a cruise experience with a Free Single supplement, meaning you will not pay any more for your ocean view cabin in single occupancy, than you would in double occupancy.

BUT JUST AS OUR OTHER FREE SINGLE SUPPLEMENT CRUISES ON CRYSTAL HAVE, THIS ONE WILL SELL OUT FAST

We will first port in Amsterdam for two full days to enjoy its legendary canals and museums. Plus, an added bonus this summer, the opportunity to visit the once every 10 years exhibit of everything flowers at the Floriade Expo, where everything blooms brightly and you will enjoy the scent and colors of not only flowers, but also fresh plants, fresh fruits and vegetables on display.

As we will enjoy two days in Amsterdam, you can enjoy one day to leisurely float though the scenic canals, visit the Van Gogh or Rembrandt museums and the historic and poignant Anne Frank House if you wish, then take the next day to enjoy the many colors and smells at Floriade.

Of course, with an overnight in Amsterdam, you may wish to visit its nightlife or walk through its legendary “Red Light District” (but don’t look too closely on your stroll…).

Next, we will enjoy a full day in Zebrugges to visit the equally beautiful canals and waterfronts in the charming town of Bruges, or to visit the many historic landmarks in Brussels or take a shopping day in nearby Ghent and also visit a chocolate making shop there for the smell and taste of freshly baked chocolate!  Of course, anywhere you go in Belgium, you will have the opportunity to savor Belgian Waffles, made fresh in front of your eyes, and of course, more Belgian chocolate shops for your delight.

Our next port is Rouen, less than two hours from Paris and just a short drive to visit the famed World War II Normandy Beach sites, as well as the incredible Mont St. Michel Monastery perched along the sea.

Rouen itself has its own history.  As the home of Joan of Arc, you can see the site and learn the history where she was infamously burned at the stake.
And because our ship spends two overnights here, you can enjoy the nightly free laser shows in Rouen, which are displayed on the exterior of its own Notre Dame Cathedral.

Our last port of call is St Peter, the little known capital of Guernsey Island, in the ooh so charming Channel Islands which lie between England and France.

PORT DESCRIPTIONS

PORT
AMSTERDAM
NETHERLANDS

Everyone has an image of Amsterdam. For some, it’s small boats gliding on the canals and locals two-wheeling on bicycles to work and, as frequently, to meet friends for drinks. For others, its gabled buildings leaning, seemingly precariously, over cobbled streets and cozy taverns illuminated by candles. Still others imagine tulips in bloom and the paintings of Van Gogh and Rembrandt. Each vision is even more incredible when experienced in person and with two full days on which our ship will be docked here, you can enjoy so much more.

PORT
BRUGES (ZEEBRUGGE)
BELGIUM

Zeebrugge is the gateway to the region of Flanders, whose Golden Age heritage resides in three historic cities: Ghent, Antwerp and Bruges. Here, museums display the glories of the old Flemish masters, from Van Dyck to Rubens. Summertime is a delight, showcasing colorful flower-filled window boxes, the graceful arcs of windmills, a patchwork of farms and picturesque rivers.

We will enjoy a full day in Zebrugges to visit the equally beautiful canals and waterfronts in the charming town of Bruges, or to visit the many historic landmarks in Brussels or take a shopping day in nearby Ghent and also visit a chocolate making shop there for the smell and taste of freshly baked chocolate!  Of course, anywhere you go in Belgium, you will have the opportunity to savor Belgian Waffles, made fresh in front of your eyes, and of course, more Belgian chocolate shops for your delight.

PORT
ROUEN
FRANCE

Gracing the river Seine, Rouen is picturesque, cultured and vibrant, its skyline crowned by the iconic spires of the Cathédrale Notre-Dame made famous by the impressionist painter Claude Monet. This historic capital is where Richard the Lionheart was crowned Duke of Normandy and where Joan of Arc remains a symbolic figure.  Rich with medieval history and vestiges of its English occupation during the 100 Years War, explore its cobblestoned pedestrian centers to see Gothic churches including Saint-Maclou and Saint-Ouen.

Take a shore excursion to see the historic World War II beaches in Normandy, the picturesque Mont St. Michel Monastery perched above the sea and the stunning gardens of Monet himself in Giverny.  As our ship is docked in Rouen for two days, you may also wish to take a day trip to Paris, only two hours away.
As we are docked here for 2 nights, you will certainly wish to enjoy on one of those nights the spectacular laser light show displayed on the exterior of Rouen’s own Notre Dame Cathedral.  The show is free and runs each night during the summer. Every summer, the magnificent cathedral in Rouen comes to life at nightfall with a breathtaking light show and dazzling illuminations projected upon the cathedral’s façade.

PORT
ST. PETER PORT
GUERNSEY ISLAND

Closer to France but staunchly British, charming Guernsey boasts a diverse culture reflecting the best of both worlds. Pastel-colored houses rise layer upon layer behind St. Peter Port, the island's picturesque main town. Beyond, you’ll discover a wealth of activities centering around goldsmiths, silversmiths, wood carvers and clockmakers.

Tiny in size but big on charm, St Peter Port is the capital of Guernsey Island in the Channel Islands.  It is considered one of Europe’s prettiest harbor towns.
Known colloquially by Islanders as ‘town’ and home to around 18,000, St Peter Port is a colorful display of flowers and bunting. There’s a distinct Mediterranean feel and an abundance of charm, with steep cobbled streets snaking their way up the hillside, all set against the spectacular backdrop of the 800 year-old Castle Cornet.  The castle is home to four glorious gardens and five fascinating little museums.

Tuesday August 30th, 2022

Today we will enjoy a tour outside of London, visiting the ancient and mysterious ruins of Stonehenge.

The mysterious and mythical Stonehenge has been a wonder throughout the ages. There has always been a great debate surrounding the theories about the erection and use of the great stone structure, which was built somewhere between 3000 BC and 1600 BC. Most commonly believed to be a prehistoric ceremonial structure. A true marvel to behold and contemplate its history.

Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument.   It consists of an outer ring of vertical sarsen standing stones, each around 13 feet high, seven feet wide, and weighing around 25 tons, topped by connecting horizontal lintel stones. Inside is a ring of smaller bluestones. Inside these are free-standing trilithons, two bulkier vertical Sarsens joined by one lintel. The whole monument, now ruinous, is orientated towards the sunrise on the summer solstice. The stones are set within earthworks in the middle of the most dense complex of Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments in England, including several hundred tumuli (burial mounds).

Archaeologists believe that Stonehenge was constructed from 3000 BC to 2000 BC. The surrounding circular earth bank and ditch, which constitute the earliest phase of the monument, have been dated to about 3100 BC. Radiocarbon dating suggests that the first bluestones were raised between 2400 and 2200 BC, although they may have been at the site as early as 3000 BC.

Stonehenge could have been a burial ground from its earliest beginnings. Deposits containing human bone date from as early as 3000 BC, when the ditch and bank were first dug, and continued for at least another 500 years.

One of the most famous landmarks in the United Kingdom, Stonehenge is regarded as a British cultural icon.

STONEHENGE

Wed August 31st, 2022

Today we will be transferred as a group from our hotel to the cruise ship in Dover, outside of London.  We will make a photo stop see and walk along the serene walking paths along the famed White Cliffs of Dover

Magnificent coastal site overlooking the English Channel

The White Cliffs of Dover is the region of English coastline facing the Strait of Dover and France. The cliff face, which reaches a height of 350 feet (110 m), owes its striking appearance to its composition of chalk accented by streaks of black flint, deposited during the Late Cretaceous. The cliffs, on both sides of the town of Dover in Kent, stretch for eight miles (13 km).

The White Cliffs of Dover are perhaps most famous as an iconic landmark, the white chalk face a symbol of home and war time defense, but they have so much more to offer; stunning views, a serene walk, a wealth of wildlife, an abundance of history and, most importantly, two tea rooms offering delicious treats.

Ever changing views.

The views from the White Cliffs of Dover are perpetually changing. When it is gloriously sunny and the sea is calm and smooth as glass you can wander across the cliffs and take in the breath-taking views across the channel, on the clearest of days you may even be able to see the buildings in France.
Wildlife

The rare chalk grassland along the cliffs is home to an abundance of flora and fauna, and such a wealth of wildflowers can’t help but attract both butterflies and bird life alike. Pick up one of the identification cards available at the visitor’s center and see what you can spot on your walk.
