The large iguanas found on the beaches of the Galapagos islands

Spend 4 nights at one centrally located hotel in the Galapagos islands with day trips by boat, so you actually can tour 4 unique islands in the Galapagos, while enjoying the comfort of accommodations on land rather than on one of the small (cramped and very expensive) multi day cruise boats common in the Galapagos.
Enjoy included tours on three of the islands plus a free day to choose between another included wildlife viewing experience, walking distance from our own hotel, or booking an optional guided tour to another island, or booking a Scuba diving tour from our hotel’s own dive shop, or just relaxing amidst the hotel’s scenic grounds.

Plus enjoy 3 nights in the fascinating city of Quito Ecuador with a half day included city tour.

Weather is ideal in the Galapagos at this time of year. June through November is their dry season and is also the time when temperatures are not scorching hot, so you can explore with temps. pleasantly ranging from mid 70s to low 80’s most days.

The cooler temps. also bring more wildlife to the beaches which means you can see more and also brings more marine life, providing scuba divers with the most ideal diving opportunities. The Galapagos islands are a world class scuba diving destination  because of its abundance of manta rays, marine turtles, reef fish and other large underwater creatures.

Santa Cruz island – the island on which our four night accommodations will be based. This island is home to beautiful beaches as well as the home of Tortuga Bay, a stunning beach where we will find many iguanas, sea lions and tons of marine birds.

Bartolome Island:  (Included tour) Bartolomé Island is a volcanic islet in the Galápagos Islands group. It is a volcanic islet just off the east coast of Santiago Island. It is one of the "younger" islands in the Galápagos archipelago. With a total land area of just 1.2 km², this island offers some of the most beautiful landscapes in the archipelago. The island consists of an extinct volcano and a variety of red, orange, green, and glistening black volcanic formations.

Bartolomé has a volcanic cone that is easy to climb and provides great views of the other islands. Bartolomé is famous for its Pinnacle Rock, which is the distinctive characteristic of this island, and the most representative landmark of the Galápagos.

You may swim and snorkel around Pinnacle Rock.  The underwater world there is really impressive. You can snorkel with the penguins, marine turtles, white-tipped reef sharks, and other tropical fish.

Isabela Island (Included tour)  Isabela Island is the largest island of the Galápagos with an area of 4,640 square kilometres (1,790 sq mi), and length of 100 kilometres (62 mi) nearly 4 times larger than Santa Cruz, the next largest of the islands.

One of the youngest islands, Isabela is located on the western edge of the archipelago near the Galápagos hotspot. Isabela is also interesting for its flora and fauna. The young island does not follow the vegetation zones of the other islands.

The relatively new lava fields and surrounding soils have not developed the sufficient nutrients required to support the varied life zones found on other islands. Another obvious difference occurs on Volcan Wolf and Cerro Azul; these volcanoes loft above the cloud cover and are arid on top.

Isabela's rich animal, bird, and marine life is beyond compare. Isabela is home to more wild
tortoises than all the other islands. Tintoreras Islet, just off the coast of Isabela island is a highlight of any visit to Isabela and features opportunities to see by boat, foot and snorkel, amongst many wildlife species including Galagos penguins, manta rays, fee sharks, iquanas, blue booted boobies (birds) and more.

North Seymour Island: (Optional tour) North Seymour is a small island near to Baltra Island in the Galapagos Islands. It was formed by uplift of a submarine lava formation. The whole island is covered with low, bushy vegetation.

This island is home to a large population of blue-footed boobies and swallow-tailed gulls. It hosts one of the largest populations of frigate birds in Galapagos.

North Seymour is an extraordinary place for breeding birds, and is home to one of the largest populations of nesting blue-footed boobies and magnificent frigate birds. Pairs of blue-footed boobies can be seen conducting their mating ritual as they offer each other gifts, whistle and honk, stretch their necks towards the sky, spread their wings, and dance—showing off their bright blue feet.

Plazas Island: (Optional tour) South Plaza is a small island off the east coast of Santa Cruz in the Galapagos Islands. It has an area of 0.13 km and a maximum altitude of 23 meters. South Plaza was formed by lava up streaming from the bottom of the ocean. Despite its small size it is home to a large number of species and it is famous for its extraordinary flora.

Dive Center Silberstein is conveniently located in front of Hotel Silberstein. The hotel offers daily diving tours to the best surrounding dive spots, as well as all PADI courses: Introductory Dive, Open Water, Advanced Diver, Rescue Diver, and Dive Master.

In Galapagos there are multiple variations of Dive Vacations. Besides our Daily Diving Tours to the surrounding Islands it is also possible to do a Dive “Island Hopping” with our Galapagos Dive Connection or with enough experience, go up North to the famous Islands of Darwin and Wolf with one of the luxurious Dive Cruises.

Island Hopping in Diving is a great opportunity to get to know the Galapagos underwater world. A wide variety of Dive spots is offered, land based and without the necessity of being on a cruise starting from San Cristobal, Santa Cruz and Isabela, with overnights on each Island. This program should start with a minimum 7 days on the Islands, though more days is preferred, to fully experience the diving from the eastern to the western Islands. Our partners are specific Dive Bases on the other Islands, and we have a specific code of quality to ensure the best and safest experience for all our divers.

All Dive cruises have the same destination: Darwin and Wolf!  The ultimate highlight in diving is diving with hundreds of Hammerheads and other sharks, especially the great whale shark, many different kinds of rays, sea lions and many more.   If you are a diver, you will love the diving opportunities available to you here and you will truly appreciate the convenience of being able to book your free day to enjoy the incredible diving through our hotel’s own dive shop.

After our included breakfast at our hotel, we are transferred together to the Quito airport for our short flight to the Galapagos.
Arrive on Baltra island and transfer by car/ferry to Puerto Ayora and accommodation at hotel Silbertain with  daily breakfast for 4 nights.

Arriving at Baltra airport, a staff member from Hotel Silberstein will welcome our new guests, including help with luggage and guidance towards the bus that heads towards the Channel of Itabaca which separates the island of Baltra from Santa Cruz.  Upon arrival, a small ferry crosses the azure waters of the Channel towards the island of  Santa Cruz, which will take approximately 5 minutes.

Next, the private transport consisting of a double cabin Pick-up or Mini-bus, crosses the island in approx. 45 minutes towards Puerto Ayora and your new home, Hotel Silberstein.

The first stop before arriving to our hotel is to “Los Gemelos”, or the Twin Craters, which are located opposite each other on both sides of the road. These are not real craters, as these formations were created by the collapse of surface material in underground fissures and chambers.  Guests should pay special attention to the changing environment that surrounds them.  You will see everything from arid red and rocky ground in the North, to green and vivid nature in the highlands towards the South.  The charming welcome reception at the hotel is followed by an introduction and explanation of our itinerary on the islands, and you will receive the details of accommodation in our spacious rooms.

Lunch is included today and will be served at the hotel restaurant before our specialized guide takes us to visit the Charles Darwin Research Station in the afternoon.  This station hosts educational museums, both about the history and development of the Galapagos Islands, and the protection of the natural heritage.  At Galapagos, many different tortoise species exist, and with this station, their extinction is studied and anticipated.  Subsequently, there is also some leisure time to explore the small but pictorial harbor town Puerto Ayora with its many shops of local arts and crafts.  After we are returned to our hotel the evening is at leisure to relax at our hotel.  Dinner is served at the cozy hotel restaurant (at your own expense) after an exciting and memorable day or you may visit one of many restaurants walking distance from our hotel.       Included meals today: B,L

DAY 04 Galapagos.  Tuesday July 24th - Full day included excursion to Bartolome’ island.  (included meals today: B,L)

Bartolomé Island: Bartolomé Island is a volcanic islet in the Galápagos Islands group. It is a volcanic islet just off the east coast of Santiago Island. It is one of the "younger" islands in the Galápagos archipelago. With a total land area of just 1.2 square kilometers, this island offers some of the most beautiful landscapes in the archipelago. The island consists of an extinct volcano and a variety of red, orange, green, and glistening black volcanic formations.  Bartolomé has a volcanic cone that is easy to climb and provides great views of the other islands.

Bartolome Island is home to some of the most dramatic scenery in the Galapagos. Bartolomé is famous for its Pinnacle Rock, which is the distinctive characteristic of this island, and the most representative landmark of the Galápagos.  Here you will have the chance to take a guided short walk to the top of this landmark for a panoramic view of the neighboring islands.

After learning about the island’s unique volcanic topography, follow your guide on an around 40-minute hike to the summit of a volcano and be rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding islands. From the high vantage point, you can look out over Santiago, North Seymour, Baltra, Santa Cruz and Rabida islands. You’ll also have chance to explore the island’s beautiful bays, otherworldly lava fields, lava tubes, and volcanic craters, all of which make for impressive photo opportunities.

The other highlight of our visit to Bartolome’ island is the wildlife you can see while snorkeling here.

You may swim and snorkel around Pinnacle Rock.  The underwater world there is very impressive and you will see a multitude of brightly colored reef fish.   You can even snorkel with the penguins, a most unique opportunity on this island, as well as snorkeling among marine turtles, small white-tipped reef sharks, and other tropical fish.  (included meals today: Breakfast at the hotel and Lunch on the tour)

Your tour includes the round trip shared boat transport, lunch, English speaking local guide and snorkel gear. (wet suits are available for rental for $28, if desired, for the snorkel)

Reviews of what people said after visiting Bartolome’ island:

“Bartolomé is breathtaking. You see the bay, the volcano, there are a lot of stairs (take the walk, after you finish the climbing you will love the view). From the top, you have a 360 view of Bartolomé and other islands.”

“Pinnacle Rock is the most photographed place in Galápagos. If you see a magazine about Galápagos, it's most likely that you will find this place. You can do snorkel, watch penguins, and if you are lucky (as we were) also see a couple of sharks.  Definitely, the best day trip I have taken in Galápagos”
Reviewed July 12th 2017

“Got great photos of Pinnacle Rock. From a distance it almost looks like a building with a steeple ready to topple over into the ocean. We were able to snorkel and what a thrill it was to snorkel with penguins swimming all around you”.  Reviewed July 31st, 2017

“Only in the Galapagos. We were greeted on the landing by a female sea lion who wanted to bask on the warm cement. She played around the zodiac boat before she jumped up. Also a giant blue heron also wanted to show us his majestic beauty before we got in the boat.

“Great experience to snorkel around Pinnacle Rock. Lots of fish as soon as you put your mask into the water. We swam with penguins who seemed unsuccessful to catch dinner. Loved the many Chocolate Chip Starfish. What a great experience!”  Reviewed July 1st 2017

“Bartolome and Pinnacle Rock are perhaps better known from the movie Master and Commander – for one view in particular. The main attraction for me though was the penguins!” Reviewed Feb. 6, 2017

“We had what was probably my favorite snorkeling experience – so many fish of different sizes and colors, and at one point I came up out of the water to check my direction and when I looked back down, I was literally in the middle of a huge school of fish! The best part was that our guide spotted a few giant sea turtles – I was never quick enough to swim over to where he was, but at one point an absolutely huge one swam right past me, I’ve never seen anything like it!”

“Between penguin sightings in Sullivan Bay, the Blue Footed Booby colony in Pinnacle Rock, unique starfish and lava fields...picking the best attraction here is really hard”.

DAY 05 Galapagos.  Wed. July 25th - Full day excursion to Isabela island and Tintoreras Islet. (Included meals today: B,L)

After breakfast included at our hotel, we will leave at 7:00 AM for the boat ride to Isabela, which is a beautiful island with a great diversity of animals.

Your first place to visit is Tintoreras islet, where we can see Galapagos penguins, big marine iguanas, sea lions, blue footed boobies and frigate birds.   After this nice walk we go for a snorkeling activity to see white tip reef sharks, sea turtles, rays and lots of multi colored fish.

After the snorkel activity we go to have lunch in a local restaurant (Included) and then we visit the Flamencos lagoon and tortoises breeding center before returning by boat back to our hotel on Puerto Ayora about 5:30pm.

Includes: Shared transportation by boat, English speaking guide, lunch in a local restaurant and snorkel gear.  (wet suits are available for rental at the snorkel for $28)

Here are a few reviews of the walk and snorkel on Tintoreras Islet which we will visit on today’s included tour.  June through November are the best time to visit.  The reviews though, show people loved  Tintoreras Islet all year long.

An Abundance of Wildlife
“We took this boat ride not knowing what to expect.   Before we even started we were surrounded by a great flock of Blue-footed Boobies which were feeding in the harbor.  Just being there for this spectacle was worth far more than the price of admission.   Although the island hike was a bit anticlimactic (no sharks) we did see an iguana swimming.  We then snorkeled, which was fabulous, as we were amongst sea turtles, sea lions and penguins in the water.   At one point our guide lead us to the mangroves where we were able to watch a Frigate bird.”      Reviewed July 14, 2015

“The snorkeling was amazing.  I wanted to see marine iguanas in the water, swimming. I wasn't disappointed. This is like a nursery area, I saw a baby Galapagos shark, baby eagle rays, and tons of turtles”   Reviewed August 17, 2016

“We started with a quiet sail past Galapagos penguins on the rocks and in the water. Easy to photograph.”  Reviewed June 23, 2016

“There were hundreds of iguanas.  At the end we did snorkeling. This was unbelievable. Besides the fish, we had sea lions and penguins swinging around us. They were next to a really, really big sea turtle. What an experience. Tips - wear sturdy sandals for walking across lava stones, plenty of sunscreen, bottle of water, swim suit.”  Reviewed July 11, 2015

“We absolutely loved this tour. It is a short boat ride from the town pier of Isabela island and along the way you will see penguins, blue footed boobies, white tip shark (tintoreras), sea lion, much to see!   You navigate by boat for the first part of the tour, walk the unique landscape passing a multitude of iguana before jumping into the water. You swim in the open water with huge tortoises and fish and then cross over to another area where you snorkel through small channels between the rocks where you should see white tipped shark. I missed the photos of the first few before I could fire off a shot with the camera. We LOVED this tour ~ don't miss it.”

“You will see tons of iguanas, penguins, sea lions, hundreds of sharks, sea turtles. You will also swim in crystal clear waters with many animals.”

“It's really Amazing to see the lava stones and everything. There are lots and lots of baby Iguanas on the island. (I think it depends on the season) all the guides on the island know so much and can answer all of your questions.  When you look in the water you can see small sharks and at the beach you can see sea lions swimming and laying around.  Also lots of crabs on the island. The boat driver also does his best to find blue footed boobies, pelicans and penguïns. We saw all of them. At the end we went snorkeling and saw some see lions and sharks as well.”

Who needs an expensive cruise when you can see so much here?
“Had a sea lion playfully dart between my flippers (swimming around me), saw a shark below me, multiple sea turtles... penguins, beautiful fish, blue-footed boobies and red-throated frigate birds, even a swimming iguana in the water!”   Reviewed  March 3rd, 2016.

Unusual landscape, it's a must
“Pristine environment, it looks like man had never existed. Peaceful iguanas stay at your feet and sea lions seem not to care of your presence, while penguins are swimming. One of the best excursions in the Galapagos Islands.”   Reviewed Sept. 7, 2015

This was such a fun morning excursion! We saw where so many marine iguanas live and nest, and we finally got to see penguins! We also got to swim with them and several sea lions, and there were also blue-footed boobies everywhere--so close!   I definitely recommend it!   Reviewed August 12, 2015

After our included breakfast, today is a day at your leisure to choose where you wish to go.

If you wish, you can join your singles trip leader for a late morning or early afternoon walk from our hotel to the stunning Tortuga Bay, to see more wildlife on the gorgeous beaches and if you wish, swim or rent a kayak.

If you wish to spend more time exploring Tortuga Bay at your leisure, you can also walk there on your own or take a cab or bicycle rental from our hotel at any time if you wish.

Here we will again see many iguanas, sea lions and tons of marine birds.

Tortuga Bay is a wildlife park just a 20 minute walk through town from our hotel and is an ideal half day leisurely activity to see wildlife up close on the beach.  Thus for those wishing to visit Tortuga Bay with your singles trip escort, we will depart the hotel by foot in the late morning, or early afternoon, depending on the consensus of those wishing to take this walk together, giving all a welcomed chance to sleep in a bit after our two full day excursions the previous two days.

You can also get a taxi from the hotel there and back, or rent a bicycle from our hotel, if you prefer not to take the 20 minute walk each way.

As Tortuga Bay is walking distance from our hotel and as the walk along Tortuga Bay is meant to be a self - guided walk at your own pace, you can stay there as long as you wish, admiring the amazing wildlife up close on the beach there and if you wish, walk a bit further through the park, to a second beach to view more wildlife up close and even take a swim in the ocean if you wish. You will witness local wildlife scurry across footpaths and across the beach, all with stunning views of the ocean.

If you wish, you can bring food in and enjoy your own picnic on the beach, as there are no restaurants at Tortuga Bay.  You can even rent a kayak there for further exploration on your own.

Those wishing to explore on their own can make the walk back to the hotel at a time of their own choosing.  The Park closes at 5pm, so you can stay as long as you wish.  There is no cost to enter the park, but you will need to show your passport for identification and then sign in and sign out at the entrance when entering and exiting the park.

One of the large marine iguanas found in the Galapagos islands. One of the places to spot many of them lounging in the sun on the beach is on our visit to Tortuga Bay, which takes, just a 20 minute walk from our hotel.

If you prefer, you can book an optional full day excursion to North Seymour island (This can be booked and paid for at the hotel if you wish the convenience to wait until you are at the hotel or it can be booked in advance if you prefer to guarantee the availability).  North Seymour is the place to go if you are interested in birding, as North Seymour has a large population of many varieties of birds including a large population of the blue footed boobies we saw yesterday on Isabela island, or if you are a scuba diver, we suggest taking an optional scuba diving tour today from the dive center located right at our hotel.

North Seymour Island:  This is a great optional full day tour for anyone who is true birding fan. North Seymour is a small island near to Baltra Island in the Galapagos Islands. It was formed by uplift of a submarine lava formation. The whole island is covered with low, bushy vegetation.

This island is home to a large population of blue-footed boobies and swallow-tailed gulls. It hosts one of the largest populations of frigate birds in the Galapagos.  North Seymour has a visitor trail approximately 2 kilometers (1.2 mi) in length crossing the inland of the island and exploring the rocky coast.  North Seymour is an extraordinary place for breeding birds, and is home to one of the largest populations of nesting blue-footed boobies (birds) and magnificent frigate birds.  Pairs of blue-footed boobies can be seen conducting their mating ritual as they offer each other gifts, whistle, and honk, stretch their necks towards the sky, spread their wings, and dance - showing off their bright blue feet.

On this optional guided full day tour you will explore this island’s highlights, including forests of Palo Santo trees, colonies of blue-footed boobies and sea lions, and dramatic coastal walks.
